Social RSS

Your social feed.
Hosted by you.

Publish posts to your .vp3.me subdomain. Subscribe to friends and creators across the open web. VP3 Social RSS reads standard RSS, Atom, and the VRSS social superset — no algorithm, no platform, no lock-in.

decentralized social — your home server is the publisher and the reader
What it is

RSS reborn for social.

Every VP3 home server publishes a feed at /api/feed//atom.xml. Anyone with any RSS reader can subscribe. VP3 followers get richer threading, reactions, mentions, and reposts via the VRSS extension — backwards-compatible JSON Feed 1.1.

Open standards
Atom 1.0 + RSS 2.0 + JSON Feed 1.1. Any standard reader works. Your subscribers don't need a VP3 account — they just point an RSS app at your subdomain.
VRSS social superset
Threaded replies, reactions, mentions, reposts, attached media — encoded as a `_vrss` extension on JSON Feed. Strict readers ignore it; VP3 readers light it up.
Federated, not centralized
Each home server polls the feeds it follows. No relay servers, no shared timeline, no central authority. Your follow graph is yours.
Signed pulls
Optional Ed25519 signatures on every fetch. Publishers can attribute reads to specific home servers and track who's actually reading without cookies or fingerprinting.
No body in the cloud
Post bodies live only on the publisher's home server. The cloud carries title + excerpt for discovery; readers fetch the body from the source over the publisher's tunnel.
OB1 reads with you
Your agent surfaces what matters. Cross-feed signals, conversation prompts, content drafts — Social RSS feeds become inputs to your Computer Brain.
How it works

Publish from one subdomain. Subscribe to anyone.

No central server. No follower count theater. Your feed is a URL — share it like an email address.

1
Pick a subdomain
From your home server, enable Social RSS on any of your .vp3.me subdomains. Set the title, bio, profile picture, posting cadence.
2
Publish posts
Markdown editor on your home server. Drafts stay local until you publish. Photos, audio, video — attached and served straight from your tunnel.
3
Follow + read
Add any feed URL — VP3, Mastodon RSS, a substack, a personal blog. The home-server poller fetches every 15 min. New posts land in your reader inbox.
What VRSS adds over plain RSS

Social fields. Backwards compatible.

VRSS is a `_vrss` extension on JSON Feed 1.1. Strict RSS readers see clean post bodies. VP3 readers see threading, reactions, and full media galleries.

post_type
post · reply · repost · share. Lets readers cluster threads and surface reposts without scraping.
reply_to_url + repost_of_url
URL-addressed thread parent. Cross-publisher conversations rebuild without a central server.
mentions[] + tags[]
@-mentions resolve to feed URLs. #-tags are plain strings. Readers can subscribe to a tag across multiple publishers.
media[]
Photos, audio, video — encoded with mime, dimensions, duration. Renderers know how to lay it out.
reactions{}
Emoji + counts. Reactions live on the post's home server; counts roll up as readers fetch the entry.
author{}
Display name, profile URL, avatar URL. Renders rich author cards in compatible readers.

Decentralized social, finally readable.

Social RSS comes built into the Home Server. Download Cauldron, claim a subdomain, and your first feed is live. Cloud-only? Cloud Connect is a different surface for hosted social.
